The Carroll Indoor Track and Field team competed at the Division 2/3 (Girls) and Division 1 (Boys) Indoor Track and Field State Championships this past Saturday at the Spire Institute Facility in Geneva. The team had qualified in a total of 14 different events, six for the boys and eight for the girls. There were several outstanding performances from the Patriots with athletes earning All-State Honors in 4 events and 3 school records being broken. Senior Amelia Harlow, competing in her 4th straight Indoor State Meet, finished in 8th place in the High Jump (5'0") to earn All-State Honors for the 2nd year in a row. The girls 4x400m Relay team of Alaina Casey, Meghan Schrand, Catherine Berent, and Taylor Smith finished in 5th to earn All-State Honors. Their time of 4:11.94 broke the Indoor School Record of 4:17.11 previously held by Christina Kallet and Haley Sabo (both Class of 2016) and Maria McCarty and Nyanjok Mawein (both Class of 2017). The girls 4x800m Relay team of Meghan Schrand, Alaina Casey, Grace Braun, and Catherine Berent finished in 8th to earn All-State Honors. Their time of 10:06.76 broke the Indoor School Record of 10:25.87 previously held by Berent, Schrand, Trinity Raber (current junior), and Rhianna Thomas (Class of 2019). The girls 4x200m Relay team of Alaina Casey, Taylor Smith, Meghan Schrand, and Meredith Goecke finished in 9th place (only .14 seconds from 8th). Their time of 1:51.18 broke the Indoor School Record of 1:54.08 previously held by Berent, Smith, Casey, and Schrand.
